Frequently Asked Questions - CELPIP Classes
What is the difference between CELPIP and IELTS?
Both tests assess English proficiency for immigration purposes, but CELPIP is fully computer-delivered and uses everyday Canadian English contexts, while IELTS includes a face-to-face Speaking component and uses a broader range of English accents. CELPIP is only accepted for Canadian immigration, whereas IELTS is accepted across multiple countries including Australia, the UK, and Canada.
What CELPIP score do I need for Canadian PR?
For most Canadian permanent residency pathways under Express Entry, a minimum score of CLB 7 (equivalent to a CELPIP score of 7 in each component) is required. However, higher scores can significantly improve your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points and your chances of receiving an invitation to apply. How long is CELPIP valid for?
CELPIP results are valid for two years from the date of your test. After two years, your score will no longer be accepted for immigration or citizenship purposes and you will need to resit the exam.
Is one month enough time to prepare for CELPIP?
For most students, one month of focused preparation is sufficient to learn the exam format, practise all four components, complete mock tests, and feel fully exam-ready. If your English foundations need significant improvement, a longer preparation period may be recommended.
